OK, so it’s not called the Gold Circle Mall.
Just wanted to see if you were paying attention.
Now known as Cincinnati Marketplace (the shopping center withย Bally’s), the old Gold Circle Mall (anchored by Toys ‘R Us …. Gold Circle is history) wedged between Glenway Avenue and Werk Road will soon be the hottest nightclub strip in West Side Cincinnati, landing both The Pirates Den and Champions Grille.
The Hemsath father/son tag-team of Larry & Larry have relocated The Pirates Den from its longtime abode off Anderson Ferry Road to Cincinnati Marketplace.

Also en route: The owners of Champion’s Grille are moving their popular bar/restaurant fromย Crookshank Road to a site near the former Miss Kitty’s Saloon.
A soft opening for The Pirates Den will be held about a week before Thanksgiving, with the big Opening Night blow-out featuringย The Hardest Working Band in Cincinnati, The Menus, on Wednesday night before Thanksgiving.

Champions Grille had planned to open sometime in lateย October, according to a post on its Facebook page, which now indicates an opening sometime “this Fall:”
“Champions Will Be Re-Opening This Fall — Date To Be Determined!! We are now hiring bartenders, servers, cooks, barbacks, and dishwashers. Stop by Cincinnati Marketplace 3670 Werk Rd. #70011 to Complete Application or FAX your Resume to 513-922-4238.”
The new Pirates Den is 7,200 SF – more than 2X as big as its previous iteration – room enough to book “bigger and better bands” and install a full-service kitchen, said Larry the Elder, who did graduate from Elder High School (as did Larry the Younger, a former Elder wrestling coach).
Sports Freak Alert: The new Pirates Den will feature 20 50-inch plasma TVs, for your viewing pleasure.

Cincinnati Marketplace is home to the Donald L. Marrs Post Office. The Pirates Den is all the way to the right in this photo below; Champions Grille is two doors down to the left, next to Duds ‘N Suds.

A night with The Menus, btw (www.TheMenus.org) is the perfect way to fire up a new West Side joint.
Why their website URLย bears the suffix of a non-profit is unknown. But why quibble?
