More than 100 years ago, Klosterman Baking Company of Cincinnati delivered its first fresh-baked goods to local families from a horse-drawn wagon.

Fast-forward to the 21st Century, when Klosterman’s (www.klostermanbakery.com) continues to meet the needs of its customers’ changing lifestyles with the introduction of the first packaged Half Loaf of bread, now available throughout Greater Cincinnati and Midwestern grocery stores.

The Half Loaf earned that most enviable of positions: a centerpiece story in The Cincinnati Enquirer’s Business section. The story was published on Christmas Day, 2007.

The Klosterman Half Loaf features that same traditional, delicious Klosterman taste, available both in White and 100% Whole Grain.

The bread is baked in the old-fashioned Klosterman style, using the same cherished, time-tested family recipes that emphasize quality and freshness.

“We have been receiving requests for a smaller loaf of bread for quite some time,” Chip Klosterman said at the time. He’s a fifth-generation owner.

“After intensive market research, we determined that we did, in fact have the capabilities, and the market existed, for this new product,” Klosterman said.

“The Half Loaf is designed for today’s lifestyles, particularly traveling professionals, empty-nesters and smaller households,” he added.

Variety is another key component to the new line.

Families can now have fresh Klosterman’s White and 100% Whole Grain bread available without the worries of stake bread.

“We wanted to do away with the fear of waste and freezer burn,” Klosterman added.

Production of full loaves has continued, as has Klosterman’s lineup of fresh hearth breads, rolls and a variety of other baked goods available at restaurants, groceries, hospitals and schools throughout the Tri-State, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan and Tennessee.

The Klosterman Half-Loaf has been very well-received since its launch in November of 2007.

The Klosterman Half Loaf family came on the heels of the 2006 opening of the Klosterman Hearth Grains Bakery in Springboro, Ohio.
