The number of college and university students who will be enrolled in our nation’s higher-education institutions, estimated at almost 17.7 million for the Fall of this year, is at an all-time high.
To keep their competitive edge, schools must continually commit to maintaining, upgrading and expanding their facilities, a popular dynamic that will be explored in-depth at tomorrow’s CREW Greater Cincinnati luncheon.
The February luncheon for CREW GC (www.CREWCincinnati.org) will take place from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Crowne Plaza North hotel in Sharonville, located on Chester Road.
The “College and University Real Estate Panel” program will be offered as a multi-guest symposium of experts, featuring representatives from a host of local colleges and universities such as:

Vicky Davidson, Associate Vice President of Planning & Development at Wright State University;
Ray Mirizzi, Director of Facilities Services, Cincinnati State Technical and Community College;
Peter C. Snyder, Director of Planning + Design + Construction in the Division of Administration and Finance, at the University of Cincinnati;
Robert (Woody) Woodruff, Director of Facilities at Sinclair Community College; and
Larry Blake, Assistant Vice President of Facilities Management at Northern Kentucky University.
The figure of 17.7 million students was derived from the Statistics of State School Systems at the National Center for Education Statistics, part of the U.S. Department of Education.

The numbers can be found at “Enrollment in Educational Institutes, by level and control of institutions, 1869 to fall 2011.”
The increase of students this year reflects a little more than 1 percent boost in the total number of students from 2010.

The number of students expected amongst the higher-education ranks for this coming fall is 17,688,000, up from 17,457,000 during the same time period last year.
That figure takes into account 13,573,000 students in public schools, and 4,115,000 in private institutions.
Join CREW Greater Cincinnati as we convene to discuss the challenges, and opportunities, of this enormous higher-education population trend.
