[Cincinnati, Ohio โ€“ August 9, 2024] โ€œSongs in Mind,โ€ a dedicated choir of local older adults with dementia and their loved ones organized by Episcopal Retirement Services (ERS), a Cincinnati-based, national leader in memory support and inclusion throughout the aging process, holds its vaunted premiere at a Kenwood church next week.

Episcopal Retirement Services (ERS) has spent the last 70+ years enriching the lives of older adults in a person-centered, innovative and spiritually-based way. As a national leader and innovator in providing care, support, and education for those living with cognitive loss, ERS created The Center for Memory Support and Inclusion in 2020 as a leading resource for the communities it serves.

Tuesdayโ€™s choir performance is part of the Centerโ€™s โ€œSongs in Mindโ€ program, developed in partnership with Blue Ash- based Keys for Success, an evidence-based practice using specifically-designed music interventions to enable individuals to reach non-musical goals.

Benefits of this and all programs provided by The Center for Memory Support and Inclusion include:

  • Providing healthy and therapeutic opportunities for social engagement among older adults and their loved ones along their memory care journey;
  • Provide training and education for care providers, family caregivers, and the community at large;
  • Making sure that living environments are conducive to caring for people with cognitive loss;
  • Building awareness and creating a community that is informed and supportive of people with cognitive loss.

The 30-member choir has been rehearsing all summer. Their 10-week program will start its next session this fall, following Tuesdayโ€™s event at Kenwood Baptist Church (in the Sanctuary) located at 8341 Kenwood Rd., Cincinnati, OH, 45236. A reception follows the premiere. Everyone is welcome to attend this and future no-cost events. RSVPs are recommended.
